    RED EVS History

    In the hands of Ērgļi thrives Europe

    Since 5th November, 2008 association RED has attained European Voluntary Service sending and coordinating organisation acreditation (Ei Ref number 2008-LV-41).

    The first of RED coordinated European Voluntary Service project "Ērgļu plaukstā plaukst Eiropa - In the hands of Ērgļi thrives Europe" has attained good success by the Youth in Action Programme! financial support.

    2 European volunteers – Kristian from Austria and Lorenzo from Italy arrived on 1st of April in Ērgļi to act creatively in two sub-branches of appanage research and art museum in Madona – in memorial nature museums in appanage of Ērgļi – Braki un Meņģeļi for six months.

    New, creative and international breezes expected in culture life of appanage of Ērgļi! We’ll inform you about their success.

    What is European Voluntary Service?

    The EVS is an opportunity for young people between 18 and 30 years to visit a member state of the programme "Youth in Action" and to work there as a volunteer from 2 to 12 months giving support, tending, managing, assisting or helping with your own ideas and work the host organization to realize their aims.

    The same Latvian organizations can host volunteers here, besides there is possibility to realize group projects with total participants till 100 persons. All volunteers who have completed their EVS receive a YOUTHPASS that confirms and describes an educational experience during EVS.

    EVS themes of projects are very different – environment, arts, culture belonging to Europe, youth policy, combating narcotics, health care, leisure time activities, sports, media and communication etc.. Descriptions of the projects you can see in the European database on EVS where you can search accredited organisations and their projects both by countries and by your themes of interest .

    Voluntary work means to work without any rewarding, notwithstanding they provide 90% of youngster travel, accomodation costs, insurance and language courses. Additional, the volunteer get some pocket money which quantity is up from the country where EVS take place.

    Especially involving of young people with special needs or fewer opportunities in Programme are supported . EVS for these youngsters can last between 2 weeks and 12 months and they can be applied to the lower age limit as from the age of 16.
